    The author of Mary Poppins was born in this town, so they have a statue in his honor. This is definitely the main photo-op, but there is actually a lot more to see in town.

    a lovely statue of mary poppins outside of the birthplace of writer pl travers. the street is also unofficially named cherry tree lane.

    Not sure why the statue is given 'hours': it's on the sidewalk, not locked away or anything, same with the birthplace plaque and info board and little free library. Perfectly accessible on weekends, though of course most of the surrounding CBD is devoid of activity ...
